MS/M.Phil Leading to PhD Scholarships for Teacher of Weaker Universities

 Introduction

The Scheme envisages MS/M.Phil leading to Ph.D. level training and six months language course (as required by the selected countries) for 100 teachers in advanced Natural / Basic Sciences, and Social Sciences / Humanities from weak and newly established universities as categorized in the PC-1 at reputed universities of France, Germany, and Austria having collaborative links with HEC.

In order to fulfill the requirements of PhD research, the candidates will have to take a six months language course (at home and abroad).

Candidates will preferably be placed directly in a 3 year PhD program; although they can opt for a Masters program leading to PhD program provided that the candidate holds an MS / M. Phil Degree with 18 years education.

The scholarship scheme was launched in 2004 and by Dec 2007 all the 100 slots have been occupied. A total of 11 scholars have left for Austria, 42 have gone to Germany while 29 have gone to France. A total of 16 scholars are undergoing their French language progrm in Pakistan & will hoepfully proceed to France in the last week of May 2008. Two scholars are awaiting their visas and once sanctioned will be leaving for France.

Since all the 100 slots have been occupied thus the scheme has been closed for any future inductions.
